The weather was warm and sometimes sunny, there were few mosquitos, and the lake water was warm. For a summer long weekend, it was a great trip, well worth doing. It was definitely a different way to do Shuswap lakes compared to house boating.

Itineraries often change, and this trip fell into that mode. We stayed at Cinnemousin Narrows for three nights, using it as a base camp. For days two and three, we explored Anstey Arm and Seymour Arm. Even though the weather was somewhat overcast those two days, we did not miss out on any touring.

The lake level was quite high for this time of year due to the large amount of extended runoff that continued into the summer. This posed us no problem other than forcing us to use the higher provincial park camp grounds instead of the exposed beaches that show up in the later part of the summer. And, even though we shared the lake with house boaters, they turned out to be very well behaved.

Our basic itinerary was as follows:

  • Day 1: Sicamous to Cinnemousin Narrows
  • Day 2: Cinnemousin Narrows north on Anstey Arm & return
  • Day 3: Cinnemousin Narrows north on Seymour Arm & return
  • Day 4: Cinnemousin Narrows to Sicamous
